TEMP Pharmacy Technician II - West Pharmacy (Temporary, Full-Time, 40, Varied Shifts)
RESPONSIBILITIES I. JOB SUMMARY: • Under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist, performs technical functions in the inpatient pharmacy, including but not limited to, filling routine orders, pre-packing medications, managing floor stock and preparing medications for automated dispensing. • May be trained to compound sterile products or manage controlled medications. • Performs duties in accordance with departmental and Medical Center policies and procedures. II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: A. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Finger dexterity. Seeing. Hearing. Speaking. B. MANUAL MATERIAL HANDLING: • Infrequent: N/A • Occasional: Lift floor to waist between 36-50 lbs. Lift waist to shoulder between 36-50 lbs. Lift waist to overhead between 11-20 lbs. Carry between 36-50 lbs. Push and Pull between 36-50 lbs. • Frequent: N/A • Constant: N/A C. NON-MANUAL MATERIAL HANDLING: • Infrequent: N/A • Occasional: Sit. Kneel. Twist. Crawl. Squat. • Frequent: Stoop/Bend. Climb: Stairs/Ladder. Reach: shoulder level. Reach: above head. Gripping. • Constant: Stand. Walk. III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: • Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions. • Some exposure to cold temperature from freezer. • Exposure to noise/vibration from air conditioner, and office/pharmacy equipment. • Exposure to body fluids, chemicals, some contact with patients with communicable diseases. • May be required to work with hazardous drugs, depending upon area of assignment. • Work environment is fast paced, congested and may be stressful. IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A. EDUCATION: • High School diploma or equivalent. B. CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE: • Current Hawaii State certificate of registration as a Pharmacy Technician. • Certificate of completion from a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) recognized or American Society of Health-System Pharmacy (ASHP) accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program; or three (3) months of work experience as a Pharmacy Technician may be substituted for the education requirement. C. EXPERIENCE: • Hospital technician training and work experience preferred. • Experience to demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills. • Proficiency in computers and word processing applications, i.e. Microsoft Word.
