Job Description
The Technician will assist in the setup, operation, disassembly, and cleaning of chemical process equipment and systems for pilot scale testing under the supervision of the Process Development Manager and Process Development Engineers.
ResponsibilitiesReview test paperwork and ask questions, including test request forms, PFDs, P&IDs, and SDSs.Pull material from storage using electric pallet jacks, dump resin or material into mixer and process machines according to SOP and batch order.Perform basic plumbing and running of process utility lines such as hot oil, steam, water, and electrical.Inspect and setup process equipment, instrumentation, and controls, including installation of instrumentation, utility plumbing, valves, insulation, and guarding.Calibrate and operate the mixing and processing equipment, feeders, and pumps.Monitor, inspect, test, and make adjustments, including pressure changes to equipment.Conduct mechanical checkout of equipment/system with the Process Development Engineer and correct issues as they arise.Complete appropriate test paperwork, including equipment settings and feed/product rates.Take samples and label during the test as directed by the Process Development Engineer.Disassemble equipment/systems, clean, and put into storage while collecting, weighing, and labeling all materials.Assist the Process Development Engineer when conducting inventory of all materials before and after testing.Move drums/containers of finished product (up to 180 lbs) with appropriate equipment to pallets and operate sit-down forklift to move finished pallets to shipping and storage.Essential Skills1+ year experience in chemical processing, blending, mixing operation, and testing.Familiarity and high mechanical aptitude with hand and power tools.Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.Excellent shop math skills including basic fractions, conversions, measurements, scale, and testing.Proven problem-solving and critical thinking skill set.Experience in repair, blueprint reading, pneumatics, electrical, troubleshooting, and mechanical tasks.Additional Skills & QualificationsForklift or pallet jack experience.Experience handling hazardous materials.Testing and sampling experience.Material handling skills.Why Work Here?

Work Environment
The work environment is an industrial chemical processing setting, which can get very hot during the summer but remains comfortable in other seasons. Employees will wear face masks due to chemical and steam processing, with proper ventilation provided. Work occurs on both lower and upper levels, involving loading materials, testing, sampling, and palletizing the final product. Forklifts, pallet jacks, and a freight elevator are used between floors. Employees work from 6 am to 2:30 pm or 2:30 pm to 10 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime but no weekend work. Uniforms are provided, and locker rooms are available for men and women.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.00/hr.
