Electrical Technician – Shipyard Environment

Pay: $40–$45 per hour (based on experience)

Location: Newport News, Virginia

Schedule: Full-time

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to support installation, repair, and maintenance tasks aboard marine vessels. The ideal candidate will have strong commercial/residential electrical experience and the ability to work confidently in shipyard environments using technical drawings, schematics, and the National Electrical Code (NEC).

Key ResponsibilitiesPerform electrical installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs in accordance with diagrams, drawings, schematics, and NEC standards.Read and understand ship nomenclature, including compartment listings and vessel navigation.Install and repair electrical controllers and related components.Plan electrical installations, create material lists, and ensure accurate job execution.Properly operate electrical test equipment such as multimeters, amp probes, and megger testers.Install and troubleshoot phone and data cabling as required.Required Experience & QualificationsExperience in commercial and residential electrical work preferred.Strong understanding of marine/shipboard electrical systems.Ability to navigate and work within ship compartments and confined spaces.Demonstrated experience with electrical testing tools and troubleshooting methods.Must be able to work safely in a shipyard environment.Preferred SkillsPrior marine or shipyard experience (highly preferred).Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
