POSITION SUMMARY

The Technical Writer is responsible for creating clear and easily understood policies and procedures. This includes researching, outlining, writing, and editing new and existing context, as well as collaborating with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather necessary information. This role will also assist in defining standards, style, and terminology, and work effectively with cross-functional teams to implement projects in a timely manner. Additionally, the Technical Writer will ensure that all policies and procedures comply with industry standards and company guidelines.

DESCRIPTION

Duties and Responsibilities

Research, write, edit, and revise new and existing policies and procedures content across the organization.Review for consistency, format documentation within prescribed templates and adherence to the current, approved style guide.Facilitate certification of policies and procedures.Organize and facilitate work sessions with subject matter experts, including side-by-side observations, to ensure detailed processes are thoroughly captured.Conduct process gap analysis during documentation.Follow established procedures for the review and approval of documentation, including Legal and Compliance review and approval of regulatory content.Initiate and lead necessary meetings with the line of business to complete and finalize procedures to meet deadlines.Ensure policies and procedures are compliant with Industry standards and company guidelines.Ingest, research, and review to ensure documents requested for exams and audits are compliant for the request. Work with the line of business as necessary to update or recertify as appropriate.Maintain tracking and ticketing system to ensure deadline are met timely.Assist with special projects and ad hoc requests.Performs other related job duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications or Liberal Studies or equivalent experience.5+ years of technical writing and editing experience or equivalent experience.5+ years of mortgage servicing and/or originations.

Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge

Strong communications skills, including written, verbal and presentation.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Word, Word Templates, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).Ability to successfully balance multiple priorities and deliverable with tight deadlines.Must have the ability to work independently, efficiently, and accurately with minimal supervision.Comprehensive understanding of complex processes and/or procedures related to the mortgage industry.Superior writing skills to clearly communicate business processes and technical information.
