Job Title: Technical Manager - Transmission Practice – Substation

Job Description

As a Technical Manager in the Transmission Practice – Substation, you will oversee the department's day-to-day operations, drive professional growth among team members, and ensure projects meet Cost, Quality, and Timing metrics. Your leadership will guide a talented team in achieving business goals and executing current workflows.

Responsibilities

Oversee supervisors of engineers, technologists, designers, and drafters.Provide leadership and training in Substation Design, including one-on-one mentorship to developing leads and supervisors.Establish, monitor, and maintain quality control standards for Cost, Quality, and Timing metrics.Monitor and communicate project portfolio health.Hold teams accountable to project baselines; ensure timely address of change orders and revisions.Determine client needs and facilitate smooth process operation with clients and internal teams.Interface and liaise with clients on issues and inefficiencies.Resolve problems related to quality, resourcing, and staffing.Facilitate resolution of disagreements between clients and internal teams.Drive team development and identify potential training needs.Support operational business planning and strategy.Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing clients.

Essential Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.PE certification required.Ten years of substation experience with progressive responsibilities.Six years of consulting experience interfacing with engineering, construction, planning, and project management.Demonstrated leadership skills managing large teams of diverse skill sets.Experience with execution, risk analysis and management, monitoring and tracking a portfolio greater than $5M in revenue.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Desire to develop self and others: technically, professionally, and personally.Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.High level of personal character and integrity.Team player with ability to work in a highly cross-functional and virtual environment.High level of experience with managing business finances.
