Technical Development Engineer
**Description** SAIC is seeking a skilled and motivated **Technical Development Engineer** to oversee the development team, manage technical initiatives, and lead the integration of advanced technologies into DRRS USMC. **This position will sit in Alexandria, Virginia.** The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in engineering leadership with a heavy emphasis on performance management, systems development, emerging technology adoption, and ensuring alignment with project goals and customer requirements. This position serves as a key liaison between the engineering team, program management, and stakeholders to ensure on-time delivery of innovative solutions. **Primary Responsibilities:** + Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary development team, driving performance, collaboration, and innovation. + Oversee task management and ensure adherence to project schedules, budgets, and objectives. + Collaborate closely with program leadership to align engineering goals with program requirements. + Identify, evaluate, and pilot new technologies, ensuring successful integration into existing program frameworks. + Define and implement strategies for technology refresh cycles, sustaining program relevance with emerging market and mission needs. + Collaborate with technology providers and research teams to assess applicability to program needs. + Work with internal and external stakeholders to scope, design, and develop technical solutions that meet functional, schedule, and budgetary criteria. + Drive the development lifecycle, from requirements to solution delivery and sustainment. + Manage risk, identify potential issues, and implement mitigation strategies. + Provide technical expertise in the seamless integration of developed technologies into operational systems and environments. + Conduct validation and verification testing, ensuring developed systems meet performance requirements and quality standards. + Serve as the primary technical interface for program leadership, customers, and other stakeholders. + Prepare detailed technical reports, white papers, and presentations to communicate progress results. + Foster a strong cross-functional feedback loop to inform continuous improvement initiatives. **Qualifications** **Required Education:** + Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience. **Qualifications:** + Track record of leading development teams and managing complex technical projects. + Experience in technology insertion and assessments. + Strong understanding of system design principles and the end-to-end development lifecycles. + Designing and implementing scalable, secure, and highly available cloud architectures in MS Azure. + Experience using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Bicep). + Expertise in containerization and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker, EKS/AKS/GKE). + Proficient in writing scripts to automate processes (e.g., using Bash, PowerShell, etc). + Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps). + Expertise in configuration management and version control tools like Git. + Practical experience with legacy Java, JAP, native JavaScript, HTML, CSS and MSSQL. + Familiarity with emerging technologies, such as AI/ML, cybersecurity, and cloud computing. + Demonstrated success in managing cross-functional teams and fostering collaboration between engineering, R&D, and program management. + Exceptional problem-solving skills and analytical thinking. + Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to technical and non- technical stakeholders. **Clearance:** + Candidate must have an active Secret clearance.
