As a Technical Designer, you will be responsible for executing project deliverables within the allotted timeframes as coordinated by the Project Manager. You will coordinate documentation that captures design decisions, ensuring holistic integration of functionality, programmatic needs, materials, and performance of the 3D space.
Responsibilities
+ Execute project deliverables within the allotted time as coordinated by the Project Manager.
+ Coordinate documentation that captures design decisions, focusing on 3D space functionality, alignment with programmatic needs, and material performance.
+ Utilize a basic knowledge of spatial requirements, program requirements, design, and construction standards to solve conflicts and maintain design intent.
+ Create design documentation during the Schematic through Construction Administration phase using CAD drafting and coordinate with vendors.
+ Understand product data and commercial requirement standards, including durability, installation methods, appropriate application, and code compliance.
+ Coordinate design documentation with standard construction methods and design detailing.
+ Collaborate with the design team to resolve issues during the documentation process.
+ Develop custom furniture and fixture details to align with design direction as directed by the Project Manager.
+ Review outside consultant drawings, including architect, drafting, millwork, and custom furniture.
+ Assist with the creation of redlines and manage shop drawing review, submittals, and RFIs.
+ Independently manage tasks as required by a project under the Project Manager's direction.
+ Delegate project team tasks and information to ensure deliverables align with the schedule.
+ Communicate with clients to distribute project deliverables and seek information as needed.
+ Train and mentor Technical Designer I.
+ Utilize and manage project tracker effectively and maintain active communication with team members.
+ Maintain project files and folders in accordance with organizational standards.
+ Communicate effectively via email and ensure timely responses.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, or Interior Design.
+ 5-7 years of relevant experience within the restaurant or custom hospitality market.
+ Experience in construction documentation for restaurant projects.
+ Ability to manage and coordinate projects through multiple teams.
+ Proficiency in producing millwork drawings using AutoCAD.
+ Experience leading construction administration for restaurant projects.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with Sketchup is a plus for interpreting renderings.
Work Environment
Our office is located on the outskirts of West Loop, featuring a lively and open office concept. The environment is dog-friendly, and the team enjoys outings and team meetings at a nearby brewery. We work Monday through Thursday in the office, with Fridays designated for remote work. The team participates in an annual summer retreat for team bonding. Projects are 100% custom, offering a dynamic and engaging work environment. Start time is flexible between 8:00-9:00am, accommodating those commuting from the suburbs. Expect an average workweek of 42-45 hours, with increased hours during deadlines. Enjoy a generous PTO policy and holiday pay, including a week off between Christmas and New Year's.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $43.27/hr.
