This opportunity entails being responsible for providing guidance and direction in area of expertise and functional discipline. This position supports the technical aspect of project development and delivery including proposal development, scope implementation and change management. Responsible for applying advanced engineering methods, techniques, and analyses to provide solutions, make recommendations and resolve issues. Ensures industry and HNTB standards of design are applied consistently and effectively across projects ranging in discipline, size and complexity. Independently applies knowledge and experience in partnership with internal project team members and external client counterparts. Serves as an advisor on complex projects to provide technical designs, plans and specifications.

As an experienced technical Engineer who has the ability to both sell and perform Traction Power Engineering design services. Candidates will be entrepreneurial, team oriented and performance oriented. They will have developed a reputation with clients and colleagues as a strong team leader with high integrity, professionalism and technical understanding. The successful applicant will understand and be able to balance the need for a high-quality product with the need to train and develop staff. Lastly, they will have the propensity to push for process, self, and industry improvement at all times.

What You’ll Do:

Performs independent technical reviews, makes recommendations, and provides technical guidance as requested on complex or unusual engineering projects. Provides direction to resolve technical issues as requested.Provides technical expertise and advice to project leadership, and mentoring/support to production staff.Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation on complex or unusual engineering projects within discipline.Coordinates technical aspects with client counterpart and teaming partners at local leadership level for work within the discipline on complex or unusual engineering projects.Develops and advises on technical consistency within discipline across processes and projects. Ensures same standard and practices are being applied.Performs other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 10 years of relevant experience, orMaster’s degree in Engineering and 9 year of relevant experience, orPhD in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience

Responsibilities:

This position will require the successful candidate to:

Interface with clients to improve system performanceSupport preparation of scopes of work, manage client and projectsSupport preparation of technical and cost proposalsSupport preparation for and make interview presentationsDevelop mathematical modelsPrepare and support power system studies for AC and DC electrified railway systemsPrepare and support computer simulations and studies including AC and DC load flow, short-circuit availability, motor-starting, and protective relay coordination studiesSupport site investigations in substations and along railroad tracksPrepare and deliver technical papers to industryPrepare and develop detailed designs for projects at various levels of design including feasibility studies, conceptual, preliminary and final designs, commissioning and testing.

What We Prefer:

Master’s degree in Engineering15 years relevant experienceProfessional Engineer (PE) certificationAmerican Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification (depending on discipline)

The approximate pay range for Massachusetts is $152,341.01 - $238,276.98. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.

The approximate nation wide pay range for this position is $126,950.84 - $248,205.18. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
