Tech Lead
Nigel Frank International Limited
Job description
A profitable, product-first data company in Copenhagen is hiring a Tech Lead to drive its next phase of growth.
Why this role exists
As the organization accelerates, the Technical Director (ex-hands-on engineering lead) needs a partner, an extension, who will own the platform direction, raise engineering velocity, and balance research with pragmatic delivery. This is a classic Tech Lead scope with a clear runway toward broader, CTO‑level responsibilities for the right person.
What you'll do
* Own the platform & frameworks across a Microsoft-first environment (.NET, Azure, Blazor), ensuring reliability, performance, and clear technical direction.
* Lead by example: design architecture, produce "first versions"/skeletons and proof‑of‑concepts, then guide seven developers to production quality.
* Modernize & simplify: move legacy services to current .NET, drive cloud adoption, and champion a low‑ops approach via CI/CD and automation.
* DevOps leadership: shape pipelines in Azure DevOps; introduce IaC (Bicep/Terraform); pilot Docker and containerised workloads where it makes sense.
* Data & product: evolve domain‑specific features and help launch new modules and markets.
* AI & experimentation: collaborate with an external R&D team on AI-driven features (natural‑language data exploration), turning prototypes into usable product.
* Engineering excellence: mentor on best practices, code quality, and testing (including sensible use of AI assistance).
* Partner daily with a hands‑on CIO/founder and the Technical Director; be a trusted sparring partner for architectural decisions.
Tech environment
* Backend: .NET (current versions in production), C#
* Frontend: Blazor WebAssembly
* Cloud & DevOps: Azure, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, IaC (Bicep/Terraform), Docker
* Data: curated, domain‑specific automotive datasets across the Nordics & Europe
* Ways of Working: pragmatic Agile/Scrum, continuous modernization, research → prototype → production
What success looks like.
* Key services upgraded and simplified; legacy .NET versions retired.
* CI/CD and IaC patterns that make shipping boring and reliable.
* First containerised services running where they add value.
* A shipped or piloted AI‑powered search/analytics capability.
* A team that's faster, clearer, and more confident, thanks to your guidance.
What they're looking for
* Strong background in .NET/C# and Azure, with experience leading technical direction or teams.
* Solid DevOps instincts (Azure DevOps, CI/CD, automation); working knowledge of IaC and Docker (or eagerness to adopt quickly).
* Curiosity for front‑end with willingness to lean into Blazor (prior Blazor experience not required).
* A pragmatic researcher: able to evaluate options, make evidence‑based decisions, and turn them into working solutions.
* A mentor and multiplier: improves others through coaching, reviews, and clear patterns.
* Fluent Danish and comfortable working on‑site in Copenhagen.
Culture & benefits
* People-first, low‑ego culture where tenure is measured in decades and relationships outlast product cycles.
* A great workspace with room to grow, including a much‑loved in‑house bar and regular social traditions (Friday bar, community events).
* Stability with room to experiment: founder now serves as CIO, staying close to product philosophy while a professional leadership team scales the business.
* Competitive compensation aligned to experience, with a solid pension scheme and benefits.
Location
* Copenhagen HQ (office-first culture with some flex).
How to apply
If building purposeful data products, modernizing a Microsoft stack, and multiplying the impact of a seasoned team sounds exciting, they'd love to hear from you. Please contact Elizabeth Tyler to learn more and apply.
