How does the TECH Futures Internship work?
This 8-week, paid opportunity will combine exposure to professionals in MITRE’s emerging technology spaces-- cybersecurity, AI, microelectronics, quantum computing—with technical skill building and hands-on experience working on problems facing our government.
You will have the opportunity to gain recognized industry certifications in foundational technical fields, as well as have access to MITRE’s robust learning engine where you may take development courses that equip you with the technical skills and tools in your area of interest.
Interns will also gain access to mentorship from MITRE professionals, networking opportunities, and career development resources to support long-term success.
What will I do as a TECH Futures Intern?
You’ll work alongside MITRE engineers to design, develop, and implement solutions and technologies to address the greatest challenges of our sponsors. You will be exposed to MITRE’s world-class expertise, innovation, and leadership and learn how we protect our government sponsors and promote their mission and operational success.
From design to operations, you will learn to apply security engineering expertise, innovative concepts, and technology solutions to address every facet of our sponsor's challenges in these strategic areas:
Cybersecurity systems, tools and technology such as threat-based engineering, reverse engineering, privacy, resilience, cyber strategy and novel technology developmentArtificial intelligence systems, tools and technology such as modeling, software development and data analyticsMicroelectronic systems, tools and technology such as digital and analog design, microprocessors, integrated circuits, hardware and software engineering

Basic Qualifications
Rising sophomores to rising seniors enrolled full time in an accredited, degree-seeking a BS degree in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, cybersecurity, policy, national security, or related discipline.Basic knowledge of—Cybersecurity systems, tools and technology such as threat-based engineering, reverse engineering, privacy, resilience, cyber strategy and novel technology developmentArtificial intelligence systems, tools and technology such as modeling, software development and data analyticsMicroelectronic systems, tools and technology such as digital and analog design, microprocessors, integrated circuits, hardware and software engineeringDemonstrated interest in cybersecurity, AI, quantum principles and microelectronics systems, tools, and technology.Sustained excellence in academic performance
Preferred Qualifications
Experience applying knowledge in internships, research, labs, student projects, or competitions in the following areas—Cybersecurity systems, tools and technology such as threat-based engineering, reverse engineering, privacy, resilience, cyber strategy and novel technology developmentArtificial intelligence systems, tools and technology such as modeling, software development and data analyticsMicroelectronic systems, tools and technology such as digital and analog design, microprocessors, integrated circuits, hardware and software engineeringHigh level of desire to help the nation solve its most critical problems.Exhibits the characteristics of a continuous learner.An interdisciplinary approach to problem solving.
