Job Title: Tax Preparer Job Description
As a Tax Preparer, you will review client financial records and documentation to prepare accurate and compliant tax returns. You will utilize Lacerte Tax Software to complete and file Form 1040 individual tax returns, communicating directly with clients to gather additional information, clarify financial data, and ensure all necessary documentation is provided. You are expected to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tax filings, and prepare a limited number of business tax returns, including Form 1120, Form 1120S, and Form 1065. Staying current with changes in tax laws and regulations relevant to individual and small business filings is essential.
Responsibilities
+ Review client financial documents and utilize Lacerte Tax Software to accurately prepare and file tax returns.
+ Ensure compliance with federal and state tax regulations, identifying potential deductions or credits to optimize client outcomes.
+ Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during the tax preparation process, gathering additional documentation and clarifying financial details.
+ Focus primarily on preparing individual income tax returns (Form 1040) with personalized service and accuracy.
+ Prepare a small volume of business tax returns, including Form 1120, Form 1120S, and Form 1065.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in tax preparation and software.
+ Client-facing communication skills.
+ Experience with individual tax returns (Form 1040).
+ Mandatory possession of a valid Oregon Tax Preparer (LTP) Certificate.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 3+ tax seasons experience.
+ Understanding of GAAP principles and financial statements.
+ Proficiency in MS Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
+ Initiative and problem-solving skills.
+ Personable and professional demeanor.
+ Attention to detail and great communication skills.
+ Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
+ Experience with Lacerte Tax or similar tax software.
+ Bookkeeping or accounting experience.
Work Environment
The work environment is client service-focused, with a hard-working and collaborative team of nine members spread across three offices. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexible hours when needed. Team members collaborate across offices, especially during peak times, to ensure client satisfaction. The company offers accrued paid time off and nine paid holidays.

This is a Contract position based out of Beaverton, Oregon.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr.
