Job Summary:
As an Executive Director - Tax Attorney within the Corporate Tax Department, you will manage tax-related inquiries from various firm businesses across established and emerging markets, work with Corporate Tax colleagues and relevant business teams to review tax aspects of new initiatives or expansion into new markets, and coordinate and effectively communicate with colleagues, outside tax counsel, accounting firms, and internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate tax planning, risk controls, and compliance.
Job Responsibilities:
Manage tax-related inquiries from various firm businesses across established and emerging markets.Work with Corporate Tax colleagues and relevant business teams to review tax aspects of new initiatives or expansion into new markets.Coordinate and effectively communicate with colleagues, outside tax counsel, accounting firms, and internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate tax planning, risk controls, and compliance.Review current and potential tax legislation and regulations.Participate in regular Corporate Tax department meetings and develop policies and procedures relevant to the businesses, including attention to reputational risk considerations.Provide tax counsel and support for products and services offered by our Corporate and Investment Bank, including: Prime Brokerage, Equity and debt derivatives, structured products, and other financial products and services within Markets, Investment Banking and Capital Markets, Bank Lending and Syndicated Loans, Treasury Services Payments and Corporate Banking, Securities Services (including Custody), Commercial Banking, Digital Asset Initiatives and Retail financial services, including retail banking and consumer lendingSupport JPMorgan Chase’s Treasury and Chief Investment Office in its activities.Serve as a general resource to the Corporate Tax Department, providing support in overseeing general and transactional tax planning.Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:
Juris Doctorate or non-US equivalent.At least 4+ years of relevant tax experience at a top-tier law firm with a strong tax practice, followed by experience at a major financial institution supporting businesses described above.Significant experience with financial products, trading, and derivative documentation required.Experience with drafting and negotiating tax provisions.Experience with advising on or implementing US tax information reporting and withholding obligations Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to be self-directed and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
