Our client, a well-established accounting firm in Westwood Los Angeles is seeking a Tax Associate on a contract basis through tax season. This hybrid role supports a high-volume tax and accounting practice during peak season, with a focus on preparing tax-ready financials and ensuring accurate, timely client deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and finalize monthly and year-end financial statements, including Profit & Loss and Balance Sheets

Produce tax-ready financial packages, including year-end close files and 1099 processing

Perform accrual-based accounting and assist with cash-to-accrual conversions

Review bookkeeping work to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance

Maintain organized client files, schedules, and supporting documentation

Perform account reconciliations and assist with month-end and year-end close

Analyze financial data and flag discrepancies or issues impacting tax filings

Support off-cycle payroll processing and related reporting as needed

Assist with compliance-related items such as 401(k) filings and other recurring obligations

Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth workflows during tax season

Qualifications:

3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within an accounting firm, tax practice, or business management environment

Strong understanding of cash and accrual accounting methods

Experience preparing tax-ready financials and supporting tax season deliverables

Proficiency in QuickBooks Online; familiarity with Gusto or similar payroll platforms preferred

Ability to manage multiple clients in a deadline-driven environment

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities

Effective communication skills
