Job Description
The Tax Assistant will provide administrative and operational support to the Tax and Payroll Analyst, focusing primarily on payroll tax compliance and reporting. This role is crucial in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll tax filings, maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, and supporting audits and reconciliations.
ResponsibilitiesAssist in the preparation and submission of payroll tax filings (federal, state, and local).Maintain and update payroll tax records and documentation.Support the reconciliation of payroll tax liabilities and payments.Respond to tax notices and assist in resolving discrepancies with tax authorities.Help gather and organize data for internal and external audits.Monitor changes in payroll tax laws and regulations and assist in implementing necessary updates.Collaborate with HR and Payroll teams to ensure accurate employee tax data.Assist in preparing reports and summaries for management review.Support process improvement initiatives related to payroll tax operations.Essential Skills1–2 years of experience in payroll, tax, or accounting support roles.Experience and familiarity with payroll taxes.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.Strong communication and problem-solving skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsFamiliarity with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, PeopleSoft) and tax filing platforms.Flexibility with working hours.Availability from 8-5 (EST).Work Environment
The role is open due to the inheritance of payroll tax issues from a previous company acquisition, requiring assistance to sort out the work. This position offers the flexibility to work fully remotely.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.
