**Job Title: Tax Analyst** **– Indirect Tax Compliance**
**Location:** Fully Remote
**Job Type:** Full-time contract (2+ months) with potential for extension or permanent hire
**Pay Rate:** $40–$50+/hour (W2, based on experience)
**Position Overview:**
Are you a detail-oriented tax professional with a passion for compliance and process improvement? We are seeking a skilled Tax Analyst to support our client’s multi-state indirect tax operations. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring accurate and timely preparation, filing, and remittance of transaction-based taxes and regulatory fees. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team while expanding your expertise in Sales and Use tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Prepare and file transaction-based tax returns, including Sales and Use tax, gross receipts, and business & occupation tax, across various states and localities
+ Calculate and remit regulatory fees such as Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS) and Enhanced 911 (E911) charges.
+ Submit tax filings and payments through electronic and manual methods, ensuring compliance with all deadlines
+ Reconcile general ledger accounts related to transaction taxes and investigate discrepancies.
+ Extract and organize tax data from billing platforms and accounting systems to support return preparation and audit readiness.
+ Maintain and update the tax compliance calendar to ensure timely filings and payments.
+ Respond to tax notices and assist in resolving inquiries from federal, state, and local tax authorities.
+ Support audit processes by gathering documentation and responding to information requests.
+ Coordinate the preparation and mailing of estimated payments, extensions, and income tax returns.
+ Manage document retention and ensure proper filing of tax records in accordance with company policy.
**Qualifications:**
+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in indirect tax compliance, including Sales and Use tax reporting and accruals.
+ Experience in the telecommunications industry is a plus.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
+ Proficiency with tax compliance software and ERP systems such as NetSuite or Microsoft Dynamics GP.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
+ Excellent organizational and communication skills.
+ Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
