Job Summary: The Sales Tax Accountant position is responsible for assisting with sales and use tax compliance, timely filing of other tax payments and returns, preparing journal entries and account reconciliations, providing tax audit support and assisting with other special projects. The position works closely with the accounting teams on tax-related projects.    

  

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare, review and file monthly, quarterly, and annual U.S. Sales & Use Tax returns across multiple states and jurisdictions. Perform sales tax exemption certificate management, validation, and periodic audits of customer documentation. Prepare journal entries for indirect tax accruals, refunds, adjustments, or other required accounting transactions adhering to strict deadlines. Manage sales & use tax audits, prepare required documentation, and respond to state auditor inquiries. Collaborate with billing, procurement, and AP teams to ensure correct tax application on purchases and sales transactions. Support global tax provision process, including ASC740 calculations and reporting. Use ERP/tax technology tools to streamline tax process and improve data accuracy. Timely prepare, file, and submit payments for business licenses and other miscellaneous filings. Assist with special projects and implementation of process improvement initiatives as required in alignment with Department and Company initiatives. Research and stay current of changes to tax laws and other compliance related requirements.

Experience And Skills Required:   

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field     2+ years’ accounting experience with a focus on sales tax responsibilities   Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and general accounting principles     Familiarity with multi-state/e-commerce sales tax regulations     Avarala Sales Tax software experience highly desirable     Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner     Strong computer skills: proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel
