Job Title: Sales & Use Tax Accountant needed in Lutz FL

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Sales & Use Tax Accountant for a 4–6 month project focused on enhancing compliance, improving internal processes, and training staff. This role will ensure alignment with state and local tax regulations while enhancing team knowledge and monthly workflows. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in sales & use tax, process improvement, and training cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Manage and oversee sales & use tax compliance on a monthly basis.Review and improve existing sales & use tax processes, identifying opportunities for increased accuracy and efficiency.Provide training and guidance to accounting and purchasing staff to enhance their understanding of sales & use tax requirements.Review purchase orders to ensure proper tax application and documentation.Monitor tax activities to ensure full compliance with applicable state and local regulations.Collaborate with internal teams to address tax-related questions, discrepancies, or process gaps.Assist with any audit support, documentation, or compliance testing as needed.

Essential Skills

3+ years of hands-on experience in Sales & Use Tax accounting or compliance.Strong understanding of multi‑state sales & use tax rules and best practices.Experience reviewing purchase orders for proper tax classification.Ability to train and coach staff at varying levels of tax knowledge.Process-oriented with the ability to identify improvements and implement solutions.Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Opportunity to work with a leading company in the construction industry.Ability to work onsite 3 days per week.

Work Environment

The role will initially involve onsite training, transitioning to a hybrid work environment with three days onsite per week.

This is a Contract position based out of Lutz, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
