The System and Mission Analysis Department is charged with identifying, developing and applying new technologies that can address the Government's most challenging Systems Engineering problems. We provide innovative, practical solutions for some of our nation's most critical challenges in defense and intelligence, aviation, civil systems, and homeland security.
Job Responsibilities
As a Systems Engineering Intern, you will join a dynamic team and will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge while gaining hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas:
Developing and applying artificial intelligence and machine learning methods to support systems engineering efforts
Creating deployable software for sponsors
Identifying key areas and challenges for sponsors along with possible solutions
Documenting and presenting work to leadership and sponsors
Basic Qualifications
Must be a student enrolled full-time pursuing an accredited degree seeking program in Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or a related degree program.
Must continue to be enrolled the semester following the internship.
Proficiency in one or more of the programming languages for quantitative analyses (ex. MATLAB, Python, R) and/or general-purpose programming languages (ex. Java or C++)
Must have sustained excellence in academic performance.
Preferred Qualifications
In-depth knowledge of at least one technical discipline
Experience with software development process and configuration management systems
Experience with AI technologies
Demonstrated interest in serving the public through previous work experience, volunteer activities, or other relevant engagements.
Must have demonstrated proficiency and strength in verbal, written, PC, presentation, and communications skills
Clearance: In addition to passing MITRE’s employment background check, you may be submitted for a U.S. Government Security clearance. This is determined by the Department of Defense’s adjudicative guidelines for receiving a clearance, to include U.S. citizenship. Other jobs may require vetting for various levels of agency public trust, fitness, suitability, controlled access, and special programs access determination consistent with the work program to which you are assigned.
