We are looking for you to join our team as a Systems Engineer / Principal Systems Engineer based out of Chantilly, VA.
What You’ll Get to Do:
This position will be located in Chantilly, VA at the SIGINT Technology Center's (STC). The STC is where technology and teamwork come together to meet the unique needs of the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense. The STC is comprised of multiple mission-focused programs with projects ranging from Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) SIGINT payload and data link development to OCONUS/CONUS mission/maintenance support. STC tasks include system design, engineering development, system integration, hands-on build and test, field operations and maintenance, training, and production.
This role is to support a program that works on SIGINT payloads that are integrated onto various airborne and ground platforms. The team supports tasking ranging from Operations and Maintenance (O&M) to Research and Development (R&D) to low quantity Production. The current portfolio includes 9 different types of systems and 32 fielded systems that are operated globally. The team provides 24/7/365 subject matter expert (SME) support to ensure the systems are functioning properly. In support of these systems, the team coordinates with external parties including field service representatives (FSRs), payload operators, subcontractors, and our government customer for engineering and maintenance tasks. The program focuses on daily tasking dictated by the customer's mission and a 24/7/365 operational tempo managed by Internal Product Team (IPTs) leads including troubleshooting issues, providing guidance for maintenance and upgrades, recreating findings reported by operators, and interfacing with our internal logistician.
The systems engineer in this position will be supporting the operations and maintenance task order. As part of this role, they will be supporting these systems by developing a general knowledge of system architectures, supporting mission operations, executing Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs), failure analysis, documentation development, and operations development. Additional opportunities may include CONUS flight test events, product and engineering solution development, system design, test kit development, and or build and test of production systems. Primary responsibilities will be conducting the assembly, testing, and checkout of SIGINT systems and subsystems. Specific tasks require knowledge of digital signal processing, high power RF transmitters, receivers, antennas, antenna positioning systems, computers, and computer interfaces.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Support operations and maintenance of fielded SIGINT systemsSupport the assembly, test, and documentation for hardware components, software operations, and high-level systemsInterface and collaborate with customers, end users, operators, and Field Service Representatives for: On-call pager support, On-call Subject Matter Expertise support, and On-call troubleshootingDevelop and execute troubleshooting procedures for use in real time operations, OCONUS test sites, and System Integration Labs (SILs)Collaborate with a multidisciplinary engineering team to upgrade and improve developmental and fielded systems to maximize uptime and capabilitiesKnowledge of system architecture & mission operationsConduct Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs), failure analysis, documentation development, and operations developmentDevelop documentationWilling to hold the 24/7 pager for 7-day shifts quarterly in compliance with the contracts SOW (pre-req to starting this is getting a TS/SCI clearance). Additional pager compensation is provided during pager shifts.Extended Responsibilities may include:
Participate in CONUS flight test events.Develop product and engineering solutions.Design systems and develop or utilize test kits.Build and test production systems.This requisition may be filled at either a Systems Engineer or Principal Systems Engineer.
Basic Qualifications for Systems Engineer:
Must have a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent STEM related discipline.Minimum of 2 years of experience with a bachelor's degree; Minimum of 0 years with master's degree; Minimum of 0 Years experience with PhDWilling and able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)Strong interdisciplinary problem-solving skills, demonstrated by frequent and successful application of technical standards, theories, concepts, and techniquesExperience with lab test equipment such as function generator, oscilloscope, multi-meter, spectrum analyzers, etc.Knowledge and experience with at least 5 of the preferred qualification technical skillsBasic Qualifications for Principal Systems Engineer:

Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00Salary Range 2: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
