Systems Engineer

Mechanical Engineer and contribute to the development of cutting-edge chiller systems that will define the future of sustainable cooling solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to apply thermodynamic and heat transfer principles to optimize and troubleshoot HVAC systems.

Expertise in using selection and thermal analysis software (e.g., EES, Dymola)

Capability to analyze complex test data and present findings

Familiarity with industry standards (ASHRAE, AHRI) and regulations.

Supports systems integration, technical design, model based design, systems analysis for supportability and effectiveness of technological systems, systems analysis for safety of system, systems research, systems verification or validation planning, architecture development, and requirements for commercial, industrial and governmental purposes. Integrates system activities to support the aforementioned tasks. Integration and analysis applies to the greater systems, interfaces between the systems and subsystems, and systems and components.

The primary responsibility of the position is the engineering development of commercial water chilling systems. In this capacity, the engineer will be responsible for developing solutions that best meet the local/global market needs by integrating multiple technologies in the product. To do this, the engineer must have a strong understanding of the thermodynamics of the chiller system, chiller modeling, tube in shell heat transfer, pressure vessel design, refrigerant system performance analysis and compression application.

Job Specific Requirements

The primary responsibility of the position is the engineering development of commercial water chilling systems. The role includes leading the integration of mechanical system designs into chiller and split system new product development programs. In this capacity, the engineer will be responsible for developing solutions that best meet the local/global market needs by integrating multiple technologies in the product. To do this, the engineer must have a strong understanding of the thermodynamics of the chiller system, chiller modeling, tube in shell heat transfer, pressure vessel design, refrigerant system performance analysis and compression application.

Key Job Responsibilities:

•\tThermodynamic based modeling and optimization of chiller system design, fluid filtration and pumping

•\tWork cross functionally with service and operations teams to effectively launch designs into production

•\tDevelop chiller system architecture that meets or exceeds the product development requirements

•\tConfirm product design performance, capability and reliability in the engineering product test laboratories

•\tCollaborate with the product marketing teams locally to develop product requirements and ensure that the product meets their needs when launched

•\tExecute tests for systems, sub-systems, and components. Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives.

•\tFollow all appropriate design, safety, and qualification standards in development programs.

•\tWork toward commonality and optimization of product & components to reduce design errors and escapes.

•\tProduce parts, specifications, designs, or sketches for machines, components, systems or work orders / purchase requests

The Mechanical Engineer is a key member of our new product design and development team dedicated to developing advanced cooling solutions particularly for the data center customers. In this role, the Mechanical Engineer leverages expertise in thermal systems to design, analyze, and optimize chiller systems for maximum efficiency, reliability, and performance. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure that our chiller products meet and exceed customer expectations while adhering to industry standards and regulations.

•\tConduct thermal analysis and simulations to evaluate system performance under various operating conditions and environments

•\tCollaborate with internal stakeholders, i.e., product management, engineering, and manufacturing, to define project requirements and deliver innovative solutions

•\tSupport design and development of chiller systems, i.e., component selection, system integration, and performance optimization

•\tProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development

•\tSupport product testing and validation activities, analyze test results and implement design improvements

•\tStay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in thermal systems engineering

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of mechanical engineering design experience

Master’s degree with 2+ years of mechanical engineering design

Preferred Qualifications:

•\tProject leadership experience, required

•\tExperience in a new product development, service and/or aftermarket space, preferred

•\tHVAC industry experience, strongly preferred

•\tStrong communication skills, primarily in English

•\tLeadership and teamwork skills required

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
