As a Systems Engineer, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of our customers. You will play a crucial role in these work areas:

Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systemsProvide engineering support for the systems administrator for systems issues that have been escalated and communicate status to agency managementWork across teams, and external customer groups to develop strategy, design solutions, and advise implementation teams during infrastructure buildoutsContributes to completion of milestones associated with specific engineering projectsDevelops solutions to a variety of engineering problems of moderate scope and complexityPerform systems design, development, and integration from the start of a systems life cycle to the endOversees moderately complex infrastructure including installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management toolsPerforms systems modeling, simulation, and analysisPerforms continual maintenance of security, including backup and redundancy strategiesPrepares and maintains documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projectsMaintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technologyConduct system requirements reviewsDevelop Systems architectures

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your engineering expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The Systems Engineer must have:
● Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science
● Experience: 2+ years of related experience
● Required Skills:

Experience with Active DirectoryExperience with Linux or UNIX operating systemsUnderstanding of Project Lifecycle ManagementUnderstanding of Configuration ManagementExcellent problem-solving and analytical skillsGood communication and presentation skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamPrior Real-time operations/systems experienceAbility to compose functional requirements/specifications documents.Ability to guide the selection, implementation, and deployment processes for new technology rollouts.Ability to respond to after-hour calls (“provide on-call support")Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

● Preferred Skills:

Advanced Level Certifications, including at least one advanced certification from a Cloud ProviderHands-on experience with automation toolsExperience with Splunk, Science Logic, Service Now, F5 Load BalancersFamiliarity with Network InfrastructureExperience with SQL database queries and troubleshootingBackups (VEEAM, NetBackup, Unitrends)Scripting and coding experience (Bash, PowerShell, Python, Terraform, GIT)Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure Cloud providersFamiliarity with security baselines (i.e. CIS Benchmarks or DISA STIGsExcellent communication skills with demonstrated experience delivering presentations to diverse audiences at various levels of an organization

● Security Clearance Level: None, but the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret or higher clearance is preferred.
