Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Systems and Automation Engineer to join our team in the Payload and Ground Systems Division Engineering organization supporting the Integrated National Systems (INS) Business Unit (BU) to support a Ground program.
This role will assist with the development, deployment, and documentation of our space-based platforms. It is expected that this candidate will also aid in the automation of hardware and software for our team’s design.
The candidate is expected to operate independently with little oversight in a dynamic environment, and to be highly self-motivated, reporting information to leads and the customer.
The individual is expected to handle diverse assignments with efficiency, finding unique solutions and working in a very collaborative and fast-paced environment that continues to grow.
Job responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
Software and automation development
Develop engineering and automated deployments for network configurations
Develop engineering solutions for space-based and ground-based systems
Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot and redline documented procedures
Implement engineering changes to the system as required
Work with open-source software and board development
Responsible for integrating and testing software and/or hardware in complex IT systems
Work closely with Engineers and Technicians in a lab environment
Good planning, coordination, and documentation skills are required
The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels
Board development
This position will be located at our Morrisville, North Carolina site. This position requires being onsite and does not support remote or hybrid work.
Basic Qualifications
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance and SCI access. No clearance required to start [US Citizenship required]
Must have a completed STEM degree [a degree in the fields of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics]
2 Years of relevant experience with a completed Bachelor's (STEM)
0 Years of relevant experience with a completed Masters's (STEM)
Must have above minimum experience on the below:
Experience in or knowledge of scripting/programming languages such as Python
Experience with deploying and writing software
Excellent writing skills, communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
Preferred Qualifications
Active DoD TS/SCI clearance/program access
Networking experience
Ability to author and maintain technical installation, configuration, and update documentation
Solid programming skills in Python and/or C++
Familiarity with Ansible and/or Terraform
Familiarity with Docker/Podman
Familiar with Agile methodology
Familiar with version control, GIT experience preferred

Salary Range: $81,300.00 - $121,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
