Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum $141,252.00 - $162,364.00 - $192,067.00 Baystate Health is seeking a **System** **Director of the Central Staffing Office (CSO)** to lead system-wide nursing workforce strategies across our health system. This is a high-impact leadership role for a strategic, data-driven operational leader who thrives in complexity and is passionate about aligning staffing excellence with patient outcomes, caregiver experience, and financial stewardship. **RESPONSIBILITIES:** Reporting to the Vice President of Clinical Business Operations, the System Director oversees centralized staffing operations that support safe, effective, and responsive nurse staffing across all Baystate Health facilities. You’ll lead a team of 6–8 leaders and professionals who serve as the operational hub for real-time staffing decisions, surge response, and supplemental workforce deployment. **Strategic & Operational Leadership** + Lead and continuously optimize centralized staffing models that align nurse staffing with patient acuity, census fluctuations, and staff competency. + Direct day-to-day CSO operations to ensure all nursing units are appropriately staffed using real-time data and predictive analytics. + Design and implement proactive strategies to meet surge capacity and fluctuating demand for beds and staff. + Serve as a role model for sound decision-making in fast-paced, high-stakes environments with competing priorities. **Workforce & Financial Management** + Oversee budgets, productivity targets, and staffing performance metrics to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. + Partner with Nursing Business Operations leaders to educate managers on budget preparation, FTE modeling, staffing variance, and replacement strategies. + Track, trend, and report staffing indicators including vacancies, FMLA, sick time, overtime, and agency utilization. + Drive continuous improvement through analysis of staffing data and operational outcomes. **Technology, Systems & Compliance** + Provide oversight for scheduling and staffing applications, ensuring schedule optimization and payroll accuracy. + Leverage tools such as Cerner, Kronos, and TeleTracking to support staffing decisions, quality, and patient safety. + Ensure staffing practices comply with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation and licensing standards. **People Leadership & Culture** + Lead, mentor, and develop CSO leaders, staffing coordinators, and administrative staff. + Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous learning, and operational excellence. + Support onboarding, training, competency development, and performance management for CSO staff. + Address staffing-related concerns or grievances with fairness, transparency, and urgency. **Collaboration & Influence** + Act as the primary liaison between the CSO and nursing leadership, HR, finance, quality, risk, and executive teams. + Communicate staffing policies, processes, and system updates clearly and consistently across the organization. + Participate in system-wide committees related to staffing, workforce planning, and patient care quality. + Build strong internal and external partnerships to advance organizational goals. **QUALIFICATIONS:** + Associate’s degree required + A Bachelor’s degree may substitute for 5 years of required experience + Master’s degree preferred (MSN, MHA, MBA, or related field) + Registered Nurses in this role must hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing + 15 years of progressive leadership-related experience in clinical operations + Experience in staffing large + Ability to manage ambiguity with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and exercise influence in a complex, multi-institutional, highly matrixed organization + Demonstrated ability to build relationships and trust, a reputation for high integrity + Knowledge and optimal use of Cerner, Tele tracking, Kronos systems to support operational, clinical quality, patient safety and research activities **LOCATION** : + 361 Whitney Ave. + Holyoke, MA **THE ADVANTAGES OF WORKING WITH BAYSTATE!** + Excellent Compensation High-quality, low-cost medical, dental and vision insurance + Generous ETO + Farm Share Memberships + 403b retirement company match & annual company contribution increase based on years of service + Free money coach advice from a certified professional + Wellbeing programs that include but are not limited to mental, physical, and financial health + Pet, home, auto and personal insurance + Life insurance + Reimbursement for a variety of wellbeing activities, included but limited to gym membership and equipment, personal trainer, massage and so much more! **We strive to be the place where we can help you build the career you deserve – apply today – YOU belong at Baystate!** **Education:** Associates Degree (Required) **Certifications:** **Equal Employment Opportunity Employer** Baystate Health is an Equal Opportunity employer.
