We are looking for seasoned system development engineer; you’re perfect if you possess a rare mix of depth in functions which involve Dev, Ops, and Customer Obsession. We need these skills because you will be working with an agile team developing an ecosystem of tools that support the Global Connectivity and Infrastructure team. Key job responsibilities You will be responsible for the design, implementation and quality of services you deliver. Your experience working in a systems development or in an enterprise environment will help us implement automated solutions across a variety of applications and systems. You’ll also: • Be part of the team that shapes the automation future in networking. • Develop DevOps and automation tasks for test infrastructure. • Use and develop tools and process that collect & rationalize data from different sources and frameworks that reduce workloads. • Use data to measure success and take responsibility for the quality of your service and, regardless of their source; Strive to prevent faults from impacting your customers. • Develop best in class software systems for automating Amazon's network. • Work closely with our Network Engineering teams to ensure fast and smooth software roll-outs. • Identify and troubleshoot recurring platform issues with effective escalation to senior-level engineering teams. • Learn, design, and build cloud-computing systems for a diverse set of customers. • Contribute to documentation of process and procedures. • Design and recommend optimization for service delivery and fleets. A day in the life This role is within a small, but critical team within the Global Connectivity Infrastructure Development organization. The team is building software solutions that drive increased velocity of the network acquisition and deployment processes. About the team Within AWS Networking, the Global Capacity Infrastructure Development organization is responsible for connecting Amazon locations to one another, and then to the global Internet. With connections to thousands in hundreds of locations across the world, our mission is to deliver connectivity experience that sets the global standard for performance, availability, security, and cost, making Amazon the clear choice for our customers’ needs. Our team provides high-performing Internet connectivity for a wide range of use cases, such as retail, video streaming (Prime Video), content delivery (CloudFront), DNS (Route53), AWS services (such as EC2/S3), consumer devices (such as FireTV/Kindle/Echo), and more. Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent - 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 2+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby - 3+ years experience working in a large-scale IT, software systems or Data Center environment (10,000+ user organization). - 3+ years Linux development experience from provisioning to performance tuning, and operating system fundamentals. Preferred Qualifications - Experience building services using AWS products. - Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI/CD) pipelines build processes. - Knowledge of major Internet routing protocols (Ethernet, ARP, IP, ICMP, UDP, TCP, SSL, DNS, HTTP, etc.). - Experience or knowledge of Optical networking. - A background in large-scale network design. - Strong understanding of how commodity servers, operating systems and network devices function, perform and scale. - Strong track record of launching projects of significant complexity. - In-depth knowledge of and experience with networking and/or systems technologies. - Experience in agile management methodologies. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market.
