System Administrator III (SolarWinds)
Job Description 5+ years of professional experience with SolarWinds products performing systems administration, including installations, configurations, monitoring system performance and availability, upgrades, troubleshooting, and dashboard design. Monitor, troubleshoot, and analyze overall health and effectiveness of multiple SolarWinds instances while utilizing SQL, SWQL, SNMP, WMI and SSH to manage. Install, configure, and administer SolarWinds Orion Platform Suite, Network Performance Module (NPM), Network Configuration Manager (NCM), Data Performance Analyzer (DPM), IP Address Manager (IPAM), Web Performance Manager (WPM), Server and Application Monitor (SAM), Virtualization Manager (VMAN); VoIP & Network Quality Manager (VNQM), and Network Traffic Analyzer (NTA). Install and patch operating systems, applications, and document DISA Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs) checklists. Expert level experience with creating/implementing customized dashboards, reports, notifications and automated responses. Develop and maintain SolarWinds Disaster Recovery plan. Strong understanding of network concepts, including routing, switching, and network security. Strong familiarity with Windows server and SQL database systems administration. Notify appropriate Information Technical Equipment Custodian (ITEC) or Property Custodian (PC), in writing, within 4 hours for all accountable item moves. Neatly bundle and conceal all excess system or peripheral cabling after each installation or repair. Skills and Requirements High school diploma or GED 5+ years hands-on SolarWinds systems administration Experience installing, configuring, upgrading, and troubleshooting SolarWinds Orion and modules (NPM, NCM, DPA, IPAM, WPM, SAM, VMAN, VNQM, NTA) Strong knowledge of SQL, SWQL, SNMP, WMI, SSH Ability to monitor and analyze the health of multiple SolarWinds environments Windows Server and SQL Server administration experience Network fundamentals: routing, switching, and security Experience completing DISA STIG checklists Expert-level custom dashboards, reports, alerts, and automation Ability to develop and maintain a SolarWinds Disaster Recovery plan Experience with large, multi‑instance SolarWinds environments Government/DOD environment experience Familiarity with ITEC/Property Custodian procedures Strong cabling, installation, and hardware organizational skills
