As a Sustainability Project Manager, you will support the Global Sustainability initiative by managing ongoing programs and specific projects related to sustainability. This role is crucial in achieving sustainability goals, including GHG reduction and brand measures, and requires cross-disciplinary work across product, packaging, supplier, and research disciplines.
ResponsibilitiesCreate and execute broader sustainability projects throughout the company, such as waste reduction, renewable energy, and factory efficiency programs.Manage specific projects related to more sustainable products, including plastic swaps and recyclability.Support and execute the collection, measurement, and analysis of sustainability-related data for programs like SBTi, CDP, and Project Thesis.Create ad hoc reports to support global retailers and licensees.Learn and execute corporate systems for measuring the sustainability impact of products and suppliers using tools like Trayak/Compass LCA, Ecoinvent, and SupplyShift.Manage and document the Sustainability Dashboard.Lead cross-functional teams to deliver on approved sustainability improvement projects, working with technical leaders in operations engineering, packaging, product engineering, R&D/QA, and sourcing.Support the creation and implementation of corporate-wide sustainability strategy.Collaborate with outside companies, suppliers, technical experts, and academia to improve long-term sustainability positioning.Provide organizational thought-leadership in design for sustainability.Possibly support procurement responsibilities.Essential SkillsProgram management and sustainability expertise.Experience with sustainability data collection, measurement, and reporting (SBTi, CDP).Working knowledge of LCA and sustainability tools (Trayak/Compass LCA, Ecoinvent, SupplyShift).Cross-functional leadership and collaboration with engineering, R&D, packaging, and sourcing.Design for sustainability expertise, including materials, recyclability, and plastic reduction.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Clear communication and stakeholder reporting skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor of Science degree in a technical field (e.g., engineering, R&D).3+ years of relevant experience.Proficient in Excel with the ability to learn advanced approaches.Basic materials knowledge with the ability and desire to advance topics (e.g., plastics, paper).Working knowledge of enterprise software (SAP, Project Management Software, Spec systems, MS Office/365, MS Teams).Experience with self-directed work teams in continuous improvement and employee involvement.Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, effective in both in-person and virtual settings.Experience with direct or indirect procurement.Ability to travel up to 5% of the time for brief vendor/manufacturing visits.Work EnvironmentThe position is based in an office environment with a hybrid schedule requiring presence in the office three days a week. The working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. The role offers a direct hire position with great benefits, room for growth, and an annual incentive bonus.
