Sustainability Manager - Toronto Office Job ID 238183 Posted 12-Sep-2025 Service line GWS Segment Role type Full-time Areas of Interest Environmental Consultancy, Project Management Location(s) Toronto - Ontario - Canada Job Purpose: The Sustainability Manager is responsible for leading the sustainability strategy for a global banking client’s property portfolio. This role blends strategic client engagement with the technical delivery of sustainability programs, ensuring compliance with international regulations and alignment with the client’s sustainability commitments. The Sustainability Manager will oversee the implementation of environmental initiatives across waste, water, hazardous materials, and sustainable procurement, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. Key Tasks: Environmental Strategy & Program Delivery •Develop and maintain a comprehensive Sustainability Management Plan, including procedures and playbooks that set targets, address sustainability risks, regulatory requirements, and performance opportunities across the property portfolio, in all geographies. •Lead the implementation of sustainability programs focused on circularity, waste management, water/wastewater, hazardous chemicals, and other key sustainability topics. •Collaborate with the Energy & Decarbonization Manager to support GHG-related initiatives and ensure alignment across energy and environmental strategies. Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration •Act as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders, shaping sustainability strategy and aligning workstreams with corporate sustainability goals. •Collaborate with on-account and client teams to embed sustainability into day-to-day operations. •Support sustainable procurement practices, including the sourcing of environmentally responsible products and services (e.g., cleaning, food, consumables). •Collaborate with Project Management, identifying, developing and delivering sustainability capital projects. •Coordinate with FM and HSE teams to deliver sustainability initiatives at site-level and to embed sustainability and regulatory compliance in maintenance practices. •Liaise with third parties as required to ensure compliance with Sustainability Management Plan. Performance Monitoring & Reporting •Review and validate sustainability data across the portfolio, ensuring accuracy and traceability. •Prepare and present reports, dashboards, and visualizations using tools such as Tableau and Envizi, in line with reporting schedules and ad hoc requests. •Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring documentation and evidence are complete, traceable and accessible. •Manage escalations related to KPIs, financial variances, program delays, and data quality. Development & Innovation •Stay current on emerging trends, technologies, and regulatory changes in environmental sustainability. •Propose and implement improvements and innovative services to enhance environmental performance and client value. Other duties may be assigned. Essential Education •Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field. •ISO 14001, BREEAM or equivalent environmental management system knowledge preferred. Skills •Fluent in English; French proficiency desirable. •Strong analytical, quantitative, and data visualization skills. •Proficient in MS Office. •Proficient in property and sustainability platforms (Envizi, Portfolio Manager, Concentrix, Capturis). •Excellent communication, report writing, and presentation skills. •Organized, proactive, and capable of managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects. •Service-oriented with a strategic and innovative mindset. Experience •Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental sustainability and compliance across multi-site international portfolios. •Familiarity with building certification standards (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 50001, LEED, BREEAM). •Experience with ESG frameworks and sustainability reporting. •Proven ability to work with supply partners and internal teams to deliver integrated solutions.
