Sustainability and Impact Summer Intern (Masters)

Our hybrid-flex work environment allows you to thrive remotely while connecting in person with your cohort at our Durham campus during key events. **Program Details** + **Duration** : 10-week internship from **May 18 – July 24, 2026** + **Schedule** : Full-time (40 hours/week) + **Work Environment** : Hybrid – remote work from the state of North Carolina with onsite events at our Durham campus + **Residency Requirement** : Interns must reside in the state of North Carolina for the duration of the program + **Experience** : Hands-on project work that supports our customers and strengthens communities across North Carolina + **Mentorship** : Interns are paired with a mentor and receive regular feedback to support their development **What You’ll Do** Join the Sustainability & Impact team, where we ensure that Blue Cross NC operates responsibly by aligning business goals with long-term societal and environmental health and wellbeing. As an intern, you’ll support our carbon footprint and operational efficiency efforts, gaining exposure to how companies approach long-term goal-setting, account for their greenhouse gas impact in areas such as supply chain, and consider sustainability certifications such as WELL. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to work that drives real change in healthcare. **What You Bring** + Currently enrolled in a degree seeking Graduate (MBA, Masters) academic program, ideally in sustainability or corporate social responsibility + Strong curiosity, drive, and ability to work independently and collaboratively + Excellent time management and communication skills **Bonus Points** + Experience with data and reporting concepts + Prior internship or project experience in sustainability or corporate social responsibility + Familiarity with concepts such as carbon footprint and social impact tracking **Compensation:** + Rising Sophomore: $20/hr + Rising Junior/Senior $22/hr + Masters / JD: $29/hr + MBA / PharmD: $36/hr **Salary Range** At Blue Cross NC, we take great pride in a fair and equitable compensation package that reflects market-price and our starting salaries are typically planned near the middle of the range listed. Compensation decisions are driven by factors including experience and training, specialized skill sets, licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs.
