Survey Technician
Job Description
This position requires three years of experience in the commercial surveying fields. The role involves maintaining accountability for the actions and productivity of a field crew as well as the operation and maintenance of survey equipment. You will work directly with the Survey Manager in developing proposals and coordinating with clients on existing projects.
Responsibilities
Assist the Survey Manager in managing field crew members of 3-8 technicians.Calculate and upload/download data points in GPS monitors and mapping equipment.Read and comprehend construction drawings.Calculate construction layouts.Work directly with design engineers, clients, safety officers, and the public.Plan and execute an efficient scanning/survey workflow.Comply with all Construction Site OSHA rules.Participate in required company training programs.Operate GPS, Robotic Total Stations, and 3D Scanners proficiently.Perform fieldwork for boundary surveys, construction layout, and topographic mapping.Set up and maintain survey equipment; ensure proper storage and battery readiness.Collect accurate measurements and maintain proper note-taking format.Convert measurements and assist with level loops and elevation calculations.Communicate effectively with team members and clients; maintain professionalism on job sites.Load/unload equipment daily and keep survey vehicle stocked and organized.Essential Skills
Expert knowledge of all survey equipment, including GPS and robotic hardware.Proficiency in survey programs and software, or comparable 3D Scanning Software.Ability to read and interpret construction plans.Field leadership qualities to manage crews and represent the company on job sites.Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.Preferred 2-year civil degree or two-year surveying certificate.Three years of experience in civil engineering/surveying office, preferably commercial.Additional Skills & Qualifications

The position is within a small, family-owned business that values personality, teamwork, and kind-hearted candidates. You will report directly to the Survey Manager, working primarily outdoors in changing weather conditions. Office presence is minimal, required mainly for internal meetings and documentation. The position involves daily travel to and from job sites. Work hours are Monday-Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, with occasional Saturdays as needed. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00/hr.
