Join a dynamic Land Development firm in Chantilly, VA as a Survey Manager, where you will engage daily with clients, contractors, and project managers. Your role will involve maintaining field crew schedules, conducting regular training and safety sessions, and coordinating with internal project managers.
ResponsibilitiesManage and oversee all types of field and office surveying for the preparation of field surveys.Provide field crew oversight to ensure work meets project goals.Lead the management of all field survey personnel.Adapt and maintain field crew schedules to accommodate changes.Implement quality control and quality assurance protocols.Utilize modern robotic survey equipment, laser scanners, and GPS tools.Enhance efficiency through training and the adoption of newer technologies.Perform project management for field survey projects and construction stakeout projects.Collaborate with the Assistant Field Coordinator to ensure field surveying supplies are adequate, maintain the vehicle fleet, and ensure field surveying equipment is in good working condition.Conduct weekly safety meetings for all field personnel.Assist in the preparation of proposals and presentations.Coordinate with office survey staff and other project managers.Work with project engineers and project managers on field work requests.Essential Skills7-10+ years of land surveying experience, primarily in office settings.LSIT and/or LS (Licensed Surveyor) certification or the ability to obtain a license is preferred.Experience in providing field crew oversight.Proficiency in boundary and topographic surveys, transportation surveys, construction stakeouts, and utility as-builts.Experience with survey CAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D.Additional Skills & QualificationsWorking knowledge of field survey data collection for topographical mapping, horizontal and vertical control surveys, right of way surveys, and utility locations.Ability to perform traverse and boundary/retracement surveys, ALTA surveys, as-builts, and construction staking/layout.Work EnvironmentWork collaboratively with a team of Civil Engineers, Landscape Architects, Planners, Security Consultants, and Surveyors in a supportive environment.
