Survey Drafting Technician

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Survey Drafting Technician to join our land surveying team. You will play a crucial role in supporting our survey projects, supporting both office production and communication with field crews and project managers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CAD drafting and design, with proficiency in MicroStation and TopoDOT. This role involves performing advanced CAD assignments, coordinating drafting efforts, and providing training for less-experienced drafters. 

Key Responsibilities:

Perform mid-level to advanced CAD drafting and design duties using MicroStation and TopoDOT. Establish and maintain CAD standards and workflows for MicroStation and TopoDOT environment Create and update all types of drawings, including engineering and construction plans. Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards and project specifications and perform quality checks on drawings to ensure accuracy. Collaborate with surveyors, engineers, and project managers to understand project requirements and objectives. Assist in preparation of survey documentation, reports, plats, legal descriptions, and exhibits. Assist in compiling survey documentation and reports for city and DOT projects. 

Travel to job sites for observation and to perform field work as needed, in all types of terrain and weather conditions. We have one current opening and will consider candidates based out of our Lincoln, NE, Omaha, NE or Des Moines, IA offices.

You bring to the team:

Strong communication skills Ability to contribute and work well on a team Associate’s degree in CAD Drafting or a related field preferred Minimum of 5 years experience in CAD drafting with experience in survey or related fields  Proficiency in MicroStation, TopoDOT, and AutoCAD Civil 3D required  Knowledge of trigonometry and basic land surveying principles  Valid driver's license with a good driving history  Willingness to work a flexible schedule  Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) preferred Certified Survey Technician (CST preferred
