Overview

The Operating Room Surgical Assistant Extern is responsible and accountable in collaboration with a Surgical Assistant to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care delivered to patients undergoing surgery. The surgical assistant extern is specifically trained to meet the unique needs of patients from infancy to geriatrics. He/she is responsible for performing those duties of a first assistant during surgical procedures and participates as a team member by performing additional duties when need arises during productive work hours.

Student in the final year of accredited school Surgical Assistant program required.
