To support provide technical expertise and leadership to Caterpillar’s supply base in the execution of a robust quality plan within the suppler network. In addition, implement a well-documented continuous quality improvement process and strict process controls. This will be used for the evaluation and development of new and existing suppliers worldwide, to maximize Quality, Cost, Logistics, Delivery, and Management (QCLDM) within the supply network. To ensure that a supplier can meet corporate and business unit requirements for SER certification levels and customer requirements for quality, cost, and delivery of purchased material. To Cultivate and develop into professional SDE. **W** **hat** **You Will Do:** + Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: + Work with suppliers to assure proper process control standards are in place and continuously monitor key manufacturing processes for improvement opportunities + Ensure suppliers have adequate people, training, tooling, fixturing, and equipment + Monitor suppliers’ adherence to Process Change Notification on a timely and cost effective basis as well as to develop the supply base to fulfil the total requirements from Caterpillar System implementation + Support Product Sourcing Strategy and provide technical preliminary assessment in new supplier selection + Work with engineer team to evaluate and develop new supplier’s technological capability to meet requirements for Caterpillar Inc. Supplier Excellence Program + Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of technological developments and work with commodity teams in advancements of design, quality, and manufacturing + Provide proposal of cost reduction and ensure implementation of robust solutions for cost reduction and quality problems associated with the purchased materials, logistics, and engineering issues + Support and participate in 6 Sigma initiatives with facilities, category teams, and suppliers. **What Skills You Will Have:** Core Technical & Process Skills: + Supplier Quality Management + Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) / PPAP + Lean Manufacturing & Built-in Quality (BIQ) + Continuous Improvement + Capacity Planning & Analysis Analytical & Problem-Solving Abilities + Strong Problem-Solving Techniques + Data Analysis + Statistical & Quality Tools Relationship & Communication Skills + Supplier Relationship Management + Effective Communication + Cross‑Functional Collaboration **Required Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree or above in Engineering. + Minimum of 1 year of job-related experience. + Knowledge or experience of APQP procedures, quality management and quality control + Good human relations skills are required to develop a cooperative working relationship with others inside and outside of Caterpillar. + Working initiatively, strong sense of taking lead and breaking-through **Desired Qualifications:** + Engineering or manufacturing background plus familiarity with manufacturing processes used to produce components and assemblies for Caterpillar Products. + Knowledge of shop operations and maintenance procedures. + Solid ability to use and demonstrate statistical and problem-solving tools. + Certifications: ASQE or comparable International Certification is desired **Additional Information:** + Some travel is required.
