A rapidly growing manufacturer within the aerospace and defense industry, is seeking a detail-oriented, strategic, and analytical Supply Chain Buyer/Planner to support and optimize our production operations. This individual will play a critical role in managing material requirements, maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting engineering and production teams, and ensuring efficient, cost‑effective supply chain performance. The ideal candidate has strong experience in manufacturing supply chain environments, is comfortable wearing many hats, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced setting.

Key ResponsibilitiesMaterial Procurement & Vendor ManagementRead and interpret engineering blueprints to ensure accurate selection and procurement of materials.Source, evaluate, and procure raw materials, components, and production supplies.Identify and negotiate with vendors to secure competitive pricing, favorable terms, and reliable delivery.Manage purchase orders, supplier performance, and adherence to quality and delivery expectations.Production Planning & SchedulingDevelop, maintain, and adjust production schedules to support on-time delivery and efficient manufacturing flow.Analyze demand forecasts, customer orders, and sales data to determine accurate material requirements.Coordinate capacity planning efforts to ensure optimal allocation of labor, equipment, and material resources.Inventory & Supply Chain OptimizationMonitor and manage inventory levels to maintain balance between stock availability and cost control.Implement process improvements to enhance throughput, reduce waste, and elevate operational efficiency.Track and report key operational KPIs, including production cycle time, supplier performance, and on-time delivery.Cross‑Functional CollaborationWork closely with engineering, procurement, inventory control, production, sales, and customer service teams to support seamless operations.Communicate schedule updates, delays, and changes in material requirements to internal stakeholders.Participate in logistics and supply chain improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence.Essential Skills & QualificationsProficiency in supply chain management, MRP/ERP platforms, and procurement in a manufacturing or engineering environment.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings/blueprints.Strong negotiation skills and experience managing vendor relationships.Solid understanding of purchasing processes and purchase order management.Experience with SAP (preferred) and project management tools.Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Education & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.4+ years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or planning in a manufacturing environment.Work EnvironmentOnsite role in a manufacturing facility.This is a small-to-mid-size company currently in an exciting growth phase, having recently expanded facilities to support increased engineering capacity.Business casual dress code.Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday–Friday (firm schedule).Employee Value Proposition (EVP)Opportunity to work in the aerospace and defense industry with strong future growth forecasts.Ability to work closely with customers and internal engineering teams, attending meetings and seeing products through the full manufacturing lifecycle.Collaborative environment where team members wear many hats and contribute meaningfully across departments.Very low attrition rate — employees typically only leave due to retirement or relocation.Job Type & Location

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.84 - $36.06/hr.
