Job Description
This position focuses primarily on the supply chain, with opportunities to start as an analyst and progress to a manager role. Initially, there are no direct reports, but there is potential for future leadership responsibilities. The Supply Chain Manager is tasked with developing the production schedule for the Fremont facility to meet customer demand while maximizing plant productivity. Collaboration and communication with plant operations, customers, and demand planning are crucial.
ResponsibilitiesMonitor and track production performance metrics, capacity utilization, and adherence to schedule targets.Develop and maintain the master production schedule to align with customer demand, inventory targets, and production capacity constraints.Adjust the master schedule to accommodate changes in customer demand or production limitations.Facilitate clear communication regarding schedule changes and updates internally and with external partners.Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, sales, procurement, and logistics to coordinate production activities and optimize resource utilization.Utilize EPICOR ERP system to run daily reports and use Kanban to determine raw materials and purchased parts.Serve as the main contact for vendors, providing support and forecasts.Prepare and place purchase orders to obtain the correct quantity and quality of materials.Review documents associated with incoming materials and purchase orders to ensure accuracy.Support continuous improvement efforts by participating in cross-functional teams and implementing best practices in production planning and capacity management.Maintain accurate supply plans in the system of record and review key master data in the ERP system.Work closely with the Operations Manager to identify and qualify new vendors.Send requests for quotes to vendors to obtain competitive price quotes and lead times on new materials.Provide research, telephone, and clerical assistance for vendor qualifications and vendor consolidation initiatives.Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and ensure the best possible costs and delivery charges for purchased materials.Essential SkillsMinimum 4 years of proven experience in production scheduling within a Lean Manufacturing environment.Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and methodologies.Proficiency in production scheduling software and ERP systems.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.Detail-oriented with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Strong organizational and time management skills.Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.Additional Skills & QualificationsCertified Purchasing Manager (CPM) and/or Certified Production Inventory Manager (CPIM) is a plus.Ability to think strategically and logically.Creative problem-solving and decision-making abilities.Strong negotiation skills.Ability to influence others without direct authority.Self-motivated and proactive management of procurement responsibilities.Effective facilitator and leader of cross-functional teams.Bachelor’s degree in operations management, Supply Chain, or a related field (preferred).Work Environment
Work is typically performed in an office environment with occasional travel required. The company culture is family-friendly and supportive, operating Monday to Friday from 7 AM to 4 PM. Though initially unionized, the environment has evolved with plans for growth in the coming months. The facility hosts around 80 employees and aims to expand further. Physical effort is minimal but may be required occasionally.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $85000.00/yr.
