Supplier Quality Engineer - Senior
**Supplier Quality Engineer** **Location** : Plymouth MN **Job Type** : **Supplier Quality Engineer** **Pay Range : $44-$47/hr** **About the Role** We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team and drive continuous improvement in the quality of components sourced from external suppliers. The ideal candidate will play a key role in providing technical support for supplier selection, developing acceptance criteria, and ensuring the quality and reliability of components used in manufacturing processes. This role involves evaluating suppliers, maintaining inspection procedures, analyzing material defects, and supporting corrective actions to maintain high standards of quality and compliance. **Key Responsibilities:** + **Supplier Assessment and Support** : + Assess potential new suppliers for technical, quality, and manufacturing capabilities. + Provide technical support during the introduction of components from new suppliers. + Assist in the development of component specifications. + **Inspection Procedures and Training** : + Generate and maintain incoming inspection procedures. + Train inspectors to follow these procedures. + Develop and source appropriate inspection tools and equipment. + **Testing and Approval** : + Generate test protocols, monitor testing, issue qualification test reports, and approve components for use in products. + Provide input to Design Engineering on new component technologies, focusing on quality and reliability analysis. + **Quality and Defect Analysis** : + Analyze incoming material defects, dispositioning materials and driving corrective action as necessary. + Communicate issues to suppliers and collaborate on corrective actions. + Investigate field failures related to supplier materials, developing corrective action plans where necessary. + **Design Collaboration** : + Review new design specifications and provide input on component quality and manufacturability. + Provide guidance to less experienced staff and lead project teams of moderate scope within a quality system environment. **Qualifications:** + **Education** : + BS degree in Engineering or related scientific field, plus 9 years of relevant work experience. + Or Master's degree with 0-2 years of related work experience. + **Experience and Skills** : + Strong knowledge of supplier quality management, component selection, and failure analysis. + Experience developing and maintaining inspection procedures and working with inspection tools. + Solid understanding of quality systems, product testing, and design specifications. + Ability to provide technical support and resolve issues with suppliers. + Experience analyzing incoming material defects and implementing corrective actions. + Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to drive improvements and corrective actions in the supply chain. + **Additional Requirements** : + Familiarity with industry standards, governmental regulations, and quality system environments. + Ability to lead a project team and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. + Excellent communication skills to report issues and interact with suppliers.
