**Supervisor Nursing Practice and Clinical Education - St. Francis Downtown**
**Primary Function/General Purpose of Position**
The Supervisor, Nursing Practice and Clinical Education is accountable for planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing education and practice programs for the assigned site or market. This role leads site Nursing Professional Development Coordinators and at times delivers education alongside staff. This role serves as an operational partner for the site chief nurse(s) and senior nurse leaders to position professional nursing direction for success by effectively executing and delivering results related to nursing care delivery.
**Essential Job Functions**
+ Implements system nursing education and professional development programs, and supports evidence-based practice and nursing research efforts to ensure consistent and effective execution across assigned departments and facilities. Includes but is not limited to: orientation and onboarding, RN Residency, and preceptor programs.
+ Assesses clinical learning needs and provides direction and support for nursing education, practice, and research to advance the nursing strategic plan to drive results. Uses critical thinking, and applies the nursing process, principles of adult learning, teaching, learning theories and age appropriate teaching strategies to the implementation of educational programs.
+ Provides oversight for clinical and nursing education and professional practice resources at the site or market and works closely with site nursing and quality leadership teams to support the nursing strategy quality objectives.
+ Works to ensure that nursing education and professional practice initiatives advance opportunities promote the development of a competent, confident nursing workforce, healthy work environments, and a safe, reliable, patient-centric experience of care across geography and practice settings in the assigned market.
+ Partners with the site, and market nursing leaders and nursing informatics subject matter experts to provide education and practice support in the implementation and optimization of all nursing technology (i.e. electronic medical records (EMR), communication and scheduling systems, and patient care equipment) to deliver high quality patient care
+ Responsible for staff education and preceptor support and development including coaching and mentoring for assigned departments.
+ Partners effectively with system resources to implement and deploy nursing career development pathways, and programs for nurses across the continuum of care in order to achieve key process indicators such as first year RN turnover, and nursing retention rates, etc.
+ Acts as a role model for behaviors that embody the mission, vision, and values of Bon Secours Mercy Health as well as professional nursing practice standards and, demonstrates attributes of a growth mindset.
+ Oversees student clinical rotations, adopts, and effectively executes system programs for transition to practice for new to practice RN and APNs, career development pathways, and nursing practice changes to achieve clinical quality, nursing workforce, and organizational outcomes across assigned location.

**Licensing/Certification**
Current RN License from an accredited program in the state in which they are working or covered by compact (required)
**Education**
Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) (required)
Masters of Science Nursing (MSN) or related field (preferred)
**Work Experience**
2 years of experience in a role working with the Nursing Professional Development (required) (3 years preferred)
2 years of experience with education concepts and processes necessary for assessment, development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of adult learning (required) (3 years preferred)
1 year of experience with the Magnet or Pathways to Excellence recognition programs (preferred)
