Summary This is a full-time position with the Clerk's Office at the Supreme Court of the United States in Washington, D.C. Responsibilities The primary responsibility of the Supervisor - Documents Control Section is to oversee the work of the Documents Control Section in order to ensure the accuracy and consistency of the Section's work. The incumbent coordinates the development of written procedures and improvements in processing of filings assigned to the Section, and along with the other members of the Section, screens submissions for compliance with the Rules of the Court, enters filings into the automated docket, and corresponds with counsel and pro se litigants concerning defective filings. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: The position requires a thorough knowledge of judicial organization, operations, jurisdiction, Rules, and procedures. Incumbent must possess strong analytical judgment with keen attention to detail; the ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and courteously, both verbally and in writing; the ability to manage others and to work cooperatively and constructively with the Clerk's Office management team; and exhibit the highest levels of discretion and judgment. Education EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A college degree and at least three years of experience working in a court or comparable legal environment is required. Progressively responsible clerical or administrative experience - preferably in reviewing and docketing submissions in a Clerk's Office - is also required. Additional specialized experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.
