Supervisor Central Sterile

 Under the leadership of the Director of Nursing for Perioperative Services, this role provides hands-on supervision of technical staff to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant processing of surgical instruments and equipment across Valleywise Health. This position partners closely with department leadership to support daily operations, optimize workflows, and maintain the highest standards of quality and patient safety.

Key responsibilities include:

Supervising and supporting technical staff to ensure proper processing, sterilization, and availability of instruments and equipment

Assisting with daily departmental operations, staffing needs, and workflow coordination

Ensuring compliance and quality standards are consistently met in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements

Serving as an on-call resource (24/7) to address operational issues and support departmental needs

 


Salary Range: Hourly rate: $24.00 - $35.40

 

 

Qualifications:

 

Education:

Requires a high school diploma or GED. Associate's degree preferred.

Experience:

Must have a minimum of three (3) years of Central Processing experience. Prefer Central Processing experience in a supervisory capacity.

Specialized Training:

None

Certification/Licensure:

Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from IAHCSMM or Central Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) from CBSPD is required upon hire. Certification Healthcare Leadership (CHL), Certification in Healthcare Material Management Concepts (CHMMC), Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Must have knowledge of regulatory and infection control policies. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions promptly and accurately. Requires the ability to work effectively without close supervision. Requires excellent customer service skills, the ability to work with professionals, and maintain confidentiality standards. Must be dedicated to maximum safety for patients, visitors and employees of the facility. Must have strong computer skills. Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
