TO MEET RESTAURANT GOALS, THE AREA SUPERVISOR DOES NOT WORK ALONE. HE OR SHE COACHES THE GENERAL MANAGERS AND A TEAM OF DEPARTMENT MANAGERS THAT HAVE SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE RESTAURANT. IN MCDONALD’S, THIS MEANS HELPING THE DEPARTMENT MANAGERS TO SET THEIR OWN GOALS, FOLLOWING UP ON THEIR PROGRESS, AND PROVIDING COACHING AND DIRECTION TO IMPROVE THEIR DEPARTMENTS. AREA SUPERVISORS ARE ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR DEVELOPING EACH MANAGER TO MAKE SURE THAT THE RESTAURANTS HAVE THE RIGHT TEAM TO LEAD INTO THE FUTURE.
