Position Summary:
This role is responsible to provide design support to ensure weekly ad production deadlines are met, to coordinate account production requirements for internal and/or external print production, and to oversee an ad team to include scheduling, compliance and quality standards to maintain timely and efficient print services. Work with internal and external customers to define project scope and expectations.
Here’s what you’ll do:
Design and create weekly ads, run of press (ROP) and/or direct mail for pre-press print and advertising projects for internal and external customers.
Oversee the Ad Designers and Graphic Designers within Ad department to include scheduling, compliance and quality standards to maintain timely and efficient print services; provide design guidance and organize the workflow and ensure compliance (i.e., job tracking, design, file formats, archiving, etc.) within the production system to meet deadlines and job requirements.
Provide means for final review and approval of files prior to release into production to ensure quality standards are met.
Work with customers and internal cross-functional departments on weekly ad requirements and maintain customer data for distribution, deadlines, ad sizes, quantities, media placement, etc.; coordinate account production requirements for print production with internal print services and/or external print vendor(s) and ensure timely resolution of issues that may arise.
Provide training and guidance to maintain efficient production; assist team with addressing inquiries/requests related to design, billing, production, printing, deadlines, etc. as necessary.
Ensure consistency of marketing message between retail banners for compliance of branding standards.
Oversee record keeping including archives of completed production jobs according to department procedures.
Maintain resource documentation as required and load files using File Transfer Protocol (FTP) to external sites and/or internal intranet.
Participate in ad layout and brand positioning meetings with Marketing and senior management to provide Graphic Services expertise and assist with upcoming ad direction and focus.
May establish distribution weekly ad customer estimates for management approval.
Maintain working relationships with print vendors, advertising distribution services, and internal departments to ensure the timely production and delivery of advertising materials to customers.
Responsible for department management including staffing, training, performance management and career development of associates, and developing and monitoring department goals.
Grand Rapids Location Only: Act as graphic services point of contact for promotions information system program (i.e., Acoustic) to include ad set up, template structure, item format, price format, etc.; respond to general inquiries, troubleshoot issues and resolve issues by developing solutions or system workarounds.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Bachelor’s Degree (Required) in Graphic Art, Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications or related area or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Three years Graphics Design, Marketing or related experience.
Promotion's software (i.e., C3, etc.) experience preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong customer service, organizational and problem-solving skills to effectively work with vendors and customers.
Must have a strong understanding of weekly ad and direct mail production processes.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Web Printing processes, and Microsoft Word and Excel.
In-depth understanding of advertising media types, principles and deployment.
Ability to work flexible hours to meet production requirements and travel occasionally for training or customer account reviews.
