Position Purpose: 
The Safety Supervisor is responsible for developing, implementing and/or administering environmental, fleet safety and occupational health and safety programs to ensure applicable legal compliance and create and maintain a safe and secure working environment. Also responsible for facility security and disaster preparedness planning and effective management of claims (e.g. property and casualty – workers’ compensation, auto liability and physical damage, and products/general liability). Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Responsibilities:

In coordination with the operations leaders, administer Core-Mark’s Safety Program at the OpCoEnsure compliance with the company’s health and safety processes and procedures, as well as local and provincial Occupational Health and Safety LegislationMaintain written health and safety strategies, programs, policies, and procedures including WHMIS, evacuation plans, etc.Assist in coordination and delivery of health and safety training and communication programsMaintain records of trainingMaintain a strong presence on the warehouse floor to monitor activities, behaviours and engage associates on health and safety mattersAssist operational leaders with incident reporting, investigations, corrective measure identification and monitor corrective measure completionProactively identify risks and collaborate with operations leaders on elimination or control of the hazardsCoordinate and schedule required external safety training such as First Aid, JHSC, MHE, etc.Onboard new employees to ensure they are provided with safety expectationsParticipate in JHSC, including maintaining records and action logIn conjunction with the JHSC, prepare documented job hazard analysisEnsure Safety Data Sheets are available and up to date for chemical inventoryReporting on safety statistics and trendsAct as a point of contact for all safety related enquiriesOther duties and projects as assigned

The ideal candidate should possess the following:

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) with 2 years of higher education or equivalent work experience1-3 years administrative experience with strong administrative and organization skills; detail orientedIntermediate level experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPointAbility to implement safety plans and conduct safety trainingAbility to analyze and critically evaluate situationsAbility to communicate verbally and/or through written communication with all levels of personnel within the CompanyAbility to organize daily tasks and to work in a self-directed environment with minimal supervisionProven ability to effectively manage WCB claimsKnowledge of the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) ActCompletion of an Occupational Health and Safety Certificate program (such as an CRSP designation), or working towards#CM-ALL
