Job Summary:\rSupervises day-to-day operations of lab personnel, instrument implementation, and provides training and support for all employees as needed. Ensures compliance with any applicable GDCH, CAP, CLIA, AABB, OSHA, FDA and TJC guidelines and other regulatory agencies. Interfaces with the lab manager to implement and monitor all internal and external complaints. Routinely participates in the testing protocols of the laboratory section. Other duties include, but are not limited to payroll, scheduling, ordering supplies, inventory and anything deemed necessary.\rCore Responsibilities and Essential Functions:\rManages the daily activities of department associates to ensure timely, accurate reporting of laboratory testing to assist physicians in providing patient care. Performs laboratory work schedules for the department to ensure adequate staffing.\rCollaboratively develops and implements technical orientation programs for new staff members. Ensures all standard operating procedures and practices adhere to Federal and regulatory agency standards (CLIA, CAP, GDCH, TJC and OSHA).\rPerforms routine technologist duties and responsibilities during the shift to ensure validity of reported results and performance in accordance with department guidelines.\rEvaluates new instrumentation and procedures to maintain state of the art laboratory performance and capability monitoring opportunities for increase efficiency and cost containment.\rPerforms other duties as assigned\rComplies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.\rRequired Minimum Education:Bachelors Other or Associates Other-Preferred\r\rRequired Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):\rAll certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.MT(ASCP) - Medical Technologist or MLT(AAB) - Medical Laboratory Technician or MLS(ASCP) - Medical Laboratory Scientist or MT(AAB) - Medical Technologist\rAdditional License(s) and Certification(s):\rMust have state approved certification per GA Rule 290-9-8 such as MT(ASCP), MLS (ASCP), CLS (ASCP), CLS (NCA), MT (AAB) certification or equivalent required Upon Hire Required and\rMust have state approved certification per GA Rule 290-9-8 such as MT(ASCP), MLS (ASCP), CLS (ASCP), CLS (NCA), MT (AAB) certification or equivalent required Upon Hire Preferred\rCertified by a GA DCH recognized agency (ASCP, AMT, NHA, NCCT, ABB) within six months of hire within 180 Days Preferred\rRequired Minimum Experience:\rEducation clarification: Bachelor's degree in Clinical Lab Science or lab related field or Master's degree preferred.
