Healthy Kids Programs is seeking Summer Camp Directors to guide campers through a summer filled with fun, friendship, and unforgettable adventures. This is your chance to lead, inspire, and create lifelong memories for children while being part of a supportive, award-winning team.
Schedule:
Pre-summer: Up to 3 hours per week, increasing to up to 6 hours per week beginning in MaySummer: Monday–Friday, shifts between 7:30 AM and 5:00 PMPotential to continue beyond summer with different hoursDates: May 25 – June 26, 2026
Status: Part-time, non-exempt
Pay: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour, based on experience
Key Responsibilities
Plan and lead daily camp activities, games, hands-on projects, and special events, including arts & crafts and themed activitiesCreate a positive, inclusive environment where campers feel supported, encouraged, and engagedSupervise, train, and support camp staff, including implementing the curriculum to ensure high-quality program deliveryEnsure camper safety and follow all state guidelines, Healthy Kids policies, and host school policiesCommunicate daily with families using the Playground App and provide support during parent orientationsSupport community outreach to promote the program and engage prospective familiesLead by example with enthusiasm, positivity, and a can-do attitude RequirementsQualifications
Must be at least 21 years of ageMust meet one Virginia-approved education and experience pathway:Graduate degree in a child-related field with 6+ months programmatic experienceBachelor’s degree or endorsement in a child-related field with 1+ year programmatic experience48 semester hours (or 72 quarter hours) including 12 semester hours (or 18 quarter hours) in child-related subjects plus 1 year programmatic experience2 years programmatic experience including 1 year in a supervisory role plus an early childhood certificate, CDA credential, or recognized Montessori certificationAt least 6 months of experience supervising, orienting, training, and scheduling staff, or completion of approved management training or courseworkPediatric CPR and First Aid certification preferredMust successfully complete all applicable background screenings in accordance with Virginia state regulationsAbout Healthy Kids Programs
