Overview

At LG&E and KU and PPL,  our intern program offers a dynamic and engaging environment where students can apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges. As part of our Environmental Compliance department, you’ll gain experience and exposure to environmental obligations and considerations within the various LG&E and KU and PPL lines of business.

Responsibilities

Environmental Compliance:

This internship supports activities in the Regulatory Policy and Compliance, Generation and Gas, Air Monitoring and Testing, and Projects and Site Investigation and Remediation sections of the Environmental Compliance Department.

 

What you will do:

Gathers, correlates, and analyzes specific data using established procedures.Performs a variety of routine tasks that will improve the individual’s familiarization with the environmental practices and programs of the Company.Assists departmental staff with large projects, as needed.Assist in the development of and gather data for trend analysis and reporting.Assist in the development and submission of permit applications and planning documents.Perform site walk downs and material inventory reviews for plan development.Generate spreadsheets and flow diagrams for the dissemination of key environmental data for both internal and external clients.Assist with the development of internal computerized training tools.Plans and controls all activities to provide an accident-free workplace.Conducts work activities to ensure compliance with environmental rules and regulations.Regularly review assignments to assure optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness.Identifies opportunities for improvement and/or suggests improved methods.Perform other duties as directed and assigned by the manager.  
Qualifications

Required Education/Experience

Available full time during the Summer 2026 semester (May - August)

Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with declared major in chemistry, biology, environmental science, or other related environmental degrees.

Minimum 3.00 GPA

 

Work Conditions

Mostly Office environment, with occasional field, or plant visits.  Some positions might require ability to work in adverse climate conditions and physical nature of work may require climbing in and out of equipment and walking on grated sidewalks up to 50 feet in the air.
