Come join our team to create bar-raising video production content for our customers. As the Studio Videographer & Editor, you will provide customer-centric video production services and support for a diverse set of Amazonian customers. The Studios Team is part of the Amazon Event Production team that crafts original video production content. The ideal candidate for this role has deep experience as a video editor, and a background in production and videography. This position includes about 60 percent editorial and 40 percent video production responsibilities. This role includes operating, helping maintain, and safely transporting production equipment for in-studio, out of studio, and on-site Amazon campus recordings. The candidate needs to be proficient in audio and visual editing programs, editorial composition, and color correction and grading.
As a videographer, a successful candidate has strong, diverse background in video composition, camera operations, audio engineering, and a general knowledge of lighting composition. This candidate would operate shoots for Amazon – in a studio environment, off-site of the company’s campuses, and on Amazon’s campuses. A successful candidate would deeply understand and possess experience in production equipment operation. Candidates should demonstrate technical directing abilities, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to keep calm, focused and confident in a production environment. A successful candidate will have an impeccable focus and drive to constantly improve the customer experience.
As a video editor on this team, you would edit video and audio files shot by video studios team -- or different members of the Event Production Organization. This position would also implement any review notes after the submission of the initial draft to refine the final deliverable(s). Beyond knowing editorial programs and coloring-related skills, this candidate would work with multi-track audio, be proficient in sound design, communicate effectively and clearly, understand video encoding formats, and know file storage and transfer solutions.
The Studios Videographer/Editor should have a strong background in technical problem-solving skills to support operations when systemic problems arise, and proactively, when invention and efficiency can be implemented to solve problems before they occur.
Key job responsibilities
Pre-Production:
• Contributes as a subject matter expert in the field of visual and audio production
• Assists customers and producers, when necessary, during planning meetings
• Promptly, thoroughly, professionally communicates with team, customers, and business partners
• Proactively engages with production team to pursue process improvements
• Runs the thorough testing of equipment ahead of shoot
• Executes designated video production setup and technical coordination of assigned systems
• Prepares technical set up in advance of a shoot and help run technical rehearsal, if needed
• Ensures industry best practices are followed with a safety-first mindset
Production:
• Guides and directs the customer clearly through the production process
• Supports the producer with the day-of shoot operations
• Provides operational services: videography, audio engineering, and other necessary equipment
• Optimizes systems for the best quality attainable
• Provides technical leadership for vendor engineers when required
• Dynamically flexes to client needs and changes
• Ensures a high-standard of production that is on-brand and exceeds customer expectation
• Guides the strike of the set and the equipment
• Ensures all equipment is properly shut down, stored, and safely transported
• Submits and quality checks the upload of footage
Post-Production:
• Edits video and audio files per specifications and guidelines
• Crafts bar-raising video and audio compositions and stories
• Works with multi-track audio
• Color corrects and grades footage
• Encodes video formats according to set specs
• Manages file transportation and delivery
• Takes the customer’s creative notes to refine the final product
• Participates in post-event feedback discussions/surveys
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional or military experience
- High school or equivalent diploma
- Versed in Adobe Creative Suite and DaVinci Resolve
- 3+ years of experience in video editorial work and composition
- 2+ years of experience in color correction and grading
- 3+ years of operational experience with audio, video, lighting, and livestreaming systems
- 2+ years of experience in maintaining the health of production equipment
- 2+ years of camera operation experience
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Ability to lead through ambiguity to expected resolution
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Extensive knowledge and experience of video production processes including; pre-production planning, on-set direction, and post-production deliverables
- 2+ years of studio-based experience
- 2+ years of off-site video production experience
- Experience taking ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Strong desire to learn new technologies and systems
- Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to improve processes
- Possess an acute sense for visual aesthetics
- Experience in effectively communicating with a diverse audience
