Student Success Coordinator - Business and Professional Services Programs

UVA School of Continuing and Professional Studies is hiring a Student Success Coordinator to support the Business and Professional Services program portfolio.

SCPS serves motivated adult students pursuing continuing education.

This is a fully remote position, though occasional travel to Charlottesville, Northern Virginia, Richmond, and other mid-Atlantic destinations may occasionally be required.

This role focuses on supporting student success and retention across various undergraduate and graduate certificate programs as well as an upcoming master’s degree program. Primary responsibilities involve student services and advising, event planning and coordination, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Student support and advising: The coordinator serves as the primary contact for student inquiries, advising on course scheduling, tracking progress toward certificate completion, monitoring engagement, and assisting with transfer credit evaluations to promote academic success. Event planning and execution: Responsibilities include managing logistics and supporting events such as new student orientation webinars, certificate completion celebrations, graduation ceremonies, networking sessions, and career panels, both online and in-person. Collaboration and records management: The coordinator collaborates with various internal teams for marketing, enrollment, and finance support, maintains accurate student records, updates engagement metrics, processes certificate conferrals, and coordinates certificate printing and distribution.

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.

Experience: At least two years of experience.

Licensure: None

Preferred Skills:

Strong communication skills (email/written, phone, virtual meetings) to provide clear and accurate guidance to students. Excellent customer service orientation with a student‑centered approach.Organizational and time‑management skills to manage multiple student needs, tasks, and events.Problem‑solving skills to support students facing academic or logistical challenges.Event planning and execution skills, including logistics, communications, and on‑site/virtual event support.Collaboration and teamwork, working effectively with faculty, program leadership, instructional design, marketing, student services, procurement, finance, and external partners.Attention to detail, particularly for record‑keeping, conferral processing, and tracking student progress.Ability to uphold confidentiality as appropriate and necessary regarding student record and communication.
