Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Student Intern.

In this role, the successful candidate This Student Research Intern position is for an individual seeking experience in public health communication, digital media, and research promotion. The intern will support the Ketamine Landscape Study (on Dr. Joseph Palamar’s team) by managing its social media presence, developing outreach materials, and assisting in engagement tracking, with the goal of enhancing study visibility and participant recruitment. This is a per diem position, with the incumbent working approximately 5 hours each week.

Social Media Management & Engagement:

Manage and monitor study-related social media accounts (e.g., Instagram, X, Facebook, Reddit) Track engagement metrics (likes, shares, comments, impressions, follows) Respond to general inquiries received through direct messages while maintaining IRB protocol standards in a professional and timely manner

Content Development

Design and publish infographics, posts, and visuals that align with the goals of the Ketamine Landscape Study Create informational and promotional materials such as flyers, web graphics, and digital advertisements Draft captions and messages tailored to each social media platforms audience and tone

Outreach & Recruitment

Research and identify ketamine-related accounts, hashtags, forums, and discussion groups across platforms Monitor and log relevant public accounts, influencers, and communities involved in ketamine discourse Coordinate with social media moderators, online communities, and forums to promote the study and encourage participation

Collaboration & Communication

Work collaboratively with the research team to ensure messaging aligns with study objectives and IRB guidelines Maintain open communication with study staff to report updates, flag issues, and suggest new outreach opportunities Participate in team meetings as needed to align with strategies and learn about ongoing research processes

Learning Objectives:

Gain hands-on experience with public health research communications Develop digital engagement strategies for health-focused studies Learn how to track, analyze, and interpret social media engagement data Build skills in digital content creation, online outreach, and health messaging

Position Requirements:

Interest in public health, digital media, behavioral science, or health communications Basic familiarity with social media platforms and their functions Strong written communication skills, organization, and attention to detail Ability to follow brand, privacy, and ethical guidelines set by the study team and NYU Langone Health Committed, highly motivated individual who can work effectively, independently, and in small teams.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Must be enrolled in a degree program in a relevant field. Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook. Familiar with Internet applications, including social media accounts (e.g., Instagram, X, Facebook, Reddit). Ability to work with a team environment as well as independently. Demonstrated ability to organize tasks and meet deadlines. Strong communication skills and commitment to continuous learning.

Preferred Qualifications:
Enrolled in a program focusing on public health and/or marketing.
Excellent English and oral communication skills.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $16.50 – $20.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
