Position Information Posting NumberSRGV8249 Working TitleSTUDENT FINANCIAL SERVICES CENTER SUPERVISOR Number of Vacancies1 LocationEdinburg, Texas DepartmentFinancial Aid FTE1.0 FLSANon-Exempt Scope of Job The Customer Service Supervisor is instrumental in all aspects of front counter student customer service; assist the Associate Director with customer service issues to ensure the highest level of student service combined with strict federal, state and institutional compliance. The Customer Service Supervisor provides daily direction and oversight for financial aid assistants. This position is responsible for a significant portion of daily customer service operations. Provide student assistance in the areas of financial aid programs and customer service functions. Supervises and schedules duties for Financial Aid Front Counter Staff and Financial Aid Phone Center Staff. Description of Duties • Supervises Front Counter and Phone Center Customer Service Staff. • Coordinates coverage of all assigned areas and monitors work schedules. • Works with assigned supervisor to assess development needs and conduct training for Front Counter/Phone Staff. • Coordinates information and deadlines with other areas to insure a cohesive departmental message. • Advises students regarding their financial aid options and responsibilities within the programs available in the Financial Aid Office and other related offices. • Maintains knowledge of regulations, eligibility, and documentation requirements concerning financial aid. • Responds to customer inquiries regarding Financial Aid forms, records, policies, and procedures. • Maintains a high degree of confidentiality on all sensitive information this position is privy to. • Assists in reviewing student financial aid applications and determining eligibility based on federal and state regulations. • Provides assistance with activities pertaining to financial aid outreach programs. • Provides excellent customer service. • Reviews and analyzes financial aid documentation for completeness and accuracy. • Coordinates and conducts evaluations or analysis of a wide variety of financial aid related student record matters. • Maintain general knowledge of multiple financial aid programs. • Solves complex customer inquiries and deals with challenging front counter issues. • Trains other student financial aid assistant and work-study employees. • Other duties as assigned. Supervision Received General direction from the assigned supervisor. Supervision Given Direct supervision of all assigned staff. Required Education High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Education Associates Degree. Licenses/Certifications None. Required Experience • Four (4) years of experience in student financial aid including one (1) year of supervisory experience or • Six (6) years of customer service experience including one (1) year of supervisory experience. Preferred Experience N/A Equipment Knowledge of use of personal computer. Standard office machines. Working Conditions Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Usual office environment. Other Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies, including students, parents, faculty and staff along with the flexibility to handle a variety of duties and projects throughout the year. Ability to communicate effectively and possess superior interpersonal skills as well as strong customer service orientation and ability to impart those skills to members of the staff. Requires flexibility to work evenings and /or weekends.
