Structural Fitter/Welder
**Job Title: Structural Fitter/Welder** Job Description Join our team as a Structural Fitter/Welder, where you will play a crucial role in assembling and welding large steel structures used in the building trades. You will be responsible for interpreting blueprints, gathering materials, and executing precise welding and fitting tasks to ensure all projects meet the required specifications. Responsibilities + Interpret and work from structural steel blueprints and welding symbols. + Assemble, fit, and weld large steel assemblies including I beams, trusses, handrails, and stairs. + Utilize overhead cranes and Sky lifts to set up and position materials. + Perform MIG and Flux Core welding on structural steel. + Engage in cutting, trimming, grinding, and fitting of assemblies. + Collaborate with team members to ensure all projects are completed efficiently and accurately. Essential Skills + Minimum of 1 year experience in structural blueprint reading and understanding weld symbols. + At least 1 year experience in fitting, specifically laying out steel according to blueprints. + Proficient in MIG and Flux Core welding with at least 1 year of experience in structural welding. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in structural steel fabrication including wide flange, pipe, handrail, columns, beams. + Proficient in using hand plasma and oxy-acetylene torches. + Experience in production welding and sheet metal welding is a plus. Work Environment Work in a spacious, barn-like single room shop equipped with CNC machines for building steel components. Large overhead cranes and beam lines facilitate efficient setups and material handling. The first shift runs from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with optional Saturday shifts. Join a team of 4 fitters and 2 welders dedicated to maintaining high production standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saginaw, Michigan. Pay Rate= $18-$20/hour depending on experience. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
